Frequently Asked Questions
What do I do when I arrive?
You will receive a warm welcome from our Welcome team who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go.
Is there a dress code?
No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.
Will I have to join in?
Not at all. You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
But I won't know what to do
There is no 'standing on ceremony' here at St. Andrews. You don't need to know 'what to do' as the leader of each service will guide you through things step by step and when you need to join in the words are shown on big screens around the church.
How can I get to know people?
We normally have a chat over tea and coffee at the end of the service so please feel free to join us. If you feel uncomfortable starting up a conversation with complete strangers please catch up with one of our Welcomers or the people who have been leading the service and they will be happy to talk (its what they are there for) - but please don't be afraid to ask anyone for help if there is something you need to know.
Do you have a toilet?
Yes. We have a toilet at the back of church (just next to the kitchen) and several more in the neighbouring church hall.
Is the church cold?
No. It is fully heated and carpeted with, what we hope, are comfortable chairs - its as close to home from home as we can make it.
Do you make provision for people with disabilities?
We welcome people with disabilities at all our services, groups and church family activities.
Wheelchair users are welcome and should free to sit where they wish - do ask one of the welcomers who will be happy help
There is an accessible toilet both within the church building and the church hall
There is a loop facility for people with hearing impairment which can be accessed from ground floor seating arrangements in the church building
Large print service sheets and Bibles are available at the main services
Weekly sermons and Bible passages are recorded and available for download from the resources section
There is a weekly group for people with learning disabilities during term time.
How can I give?
If you are new please don't feel you need to give, we are just glad you are here.
However, if you would like to contribute to support the mission of the church with you money or your talents
we would love to explore this further with you.
A regular planned approach to giving
is very much encouraged. This makes it easier for us to make plans and decide to undertake projects. If you can set up a standing order on your bank account please do so and email our treasurer at firstname.lastname@example.org
to confirm - or complete a standing order form
. If you are a UK taxpayer we can add 25% to the value of your gift by reclaiming the tax
If you would prefer to give cash or cheque then please place directly in the collection box at the back of church each week.
I have more questions, how do I get in touch?
Please feel to phone the Church Office on 01772 622964 or fill in the form below and we will get back as soon as we can.
